A little bit of everything

It’s been a hell of a week.  Or two.  My parents embarked on their annual Midwest vacation two weeks ago.  The hubs has only had 2 days off during that time.  My children are testing their boundaries on everything.  If they actually listened to one thing I said the first time, I would likely die from the shock.  Happy mommy has taken a back seat to mean bitchy mommy.  I’ve taken to yelling and barking orders instead of simply requesting things in a nice firm voice because I am sick of them telling me “No, mommy,” and me flipping my shit.  We’ve spent more minutes in timeout than playing, it would seem.  Add to that the stress of finding childcare on the days I work, a lack of sleep, their 4 year immunizations bringing on even more whininess and feverish temps and I am ready to lose it.

I’ve learned a very important lesson the past couple of weeks:  My mom and dad save my life on a daily basis.  If we didn’t live 30 seconds away from them, I seriously don’t think I would have survived the last 3 years.  I think I must be the luckiest mom in the world to be so close emotionally and geographically close to the grandparents of my children.

In addition to my attempts to maintain a shred of my sanity this week, I’ve been busy negotiating domain names for my work-in-progress website.  I tell you what, I am thisclose to buying a bunch of domain names for $12.95 a pop and holding onto them until somebody comes a-buying.  There is a shit ton of money in that game.  I’ve got 2 names already purchased for my new project, but they both include “the” which the branding experts tell me is the most forgettable part of a name.  The name that I desire minus “the” is going for $325.  Let me break it down for yous guys…somebody 1-6 years ago purchased a domain name for probably around $10-12 and is now going to make a profit of about $300 for an intangible object.  Pretty solid gig if you ask me.  Though I’m none too happy that I have to spend $325 on something that should have cost a meager $13.

It is going to be a super busy and fun weekend for us me.  Friday, I am heading to a free social media event in downtown Phoenix with a good friend.  Several blogging and marketing workshops are offered and a social media carnival rounds out the afternoon.  I’ve never been to anything like this so I am pretty doggone excited.  I shall let you know how it goes.  Friday night and Saturday morning, a women’s retreat is taking place at church.  And finally, Sunday.

Sunday is going to be a beautiful day as it is the day my boys are being baptized.  Since I just came back to the church in September, we are a little behind the game.  Better late than never, I always say.  They have been wild the last several times we’ve attended mass.  I will be having a little chat with God and asking Him desperately for a quiet and peaceful spirit to fill my children so I don’t lose my mind.

Love and peace,

~Andrea

Hi busy-bee. I had not heard of the reselling of domain names and the cost of #300 + dollars for a domain name. Why is this, does it already have built-in traffic? Let us know how Sunday goes and how the blogging workshop goes.

  2. My husband plays the domain game! He has made a couple hundred bucks here and there.
I will say that when my kids were about that age- summer drove me nuts!!! I had a knot of tension in the middle of my back for about 2 months. Ride the wave and by the time they are my kids age, it should be better. So that’s just what, another 5 years? LOL! Love ya!
